Meet Pocohontas

Tiana and Pocahontas are the 'twins' from the same litter.  Mom gave birth in the safety and comfort of a foster home, so the puppies have not known anything but love and family.  They look very much alike and have many of the same skills; housebroken, crate trained, good on leash, good with kids, other dogs and cats. 6 month old, sm-med sized dogs, very sweet temperaments, MAY BE retreiver/aussie mixes (just visual clues, unless a dna kit is done on ANY dog we do not know for sure what breed mix they are...could have a chihuahua heart and doberman liver, but these are the visual, personality, temperment clues we see).  Both are super fun family dogs!  Decidedly different personalities.  This from Pokey's foster mom, "

Pokey, has grown up with a family with children and dogs and a cat. She also has a very busy family that has just let Pokey go everywhere they go.Therefor she loves to ride in the car. She loves social events and is VERY well behaved. Growing up on the soccer field was hard work, letting all the kids pet and love all over her. She does great in a fence area or free she does not stray off. Pokey LOVE's the lake and fetch. Right now her favorite sport is to show of her retrieving skills as she swims into the lake to catch her stuffed Goose & carry it back to her family".

Meet both to fall in love with one.  Pocahontas' adoption fee is $150. Pocahontas is completely vetted; spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, wormed, deflead and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Pocahontas, please fill out an adoption application at www.louisahumanesociety.com, click on the “paw” for Adoption Application. Once submitted, the vet reference you provided will be contacted (if no vet, please provide 3 personal references, may be family and friends as long as they have a dog that you interact with) and then once approved, you will be contacted by the foster parent to discuss the animal and arrange the logistics for a visit. Our rescue group does not have a brick and mortar facility, all our animals are home fostered in our volunteer’s houses. You will be visiting a private residence. The application does not oblige you to adopt, nor does the visitation; the application just gives us more info to help ensure a good match. Our policy is that we always take our animals back should it prove to be a less than perfect match, or if you are unable or unwilling to care for the animal any longer. We just don't want the animal to go back into the system. Thank you for considering an unwanted and abandoned dog, and being part of the rescue efforts.
