Name: Mitch
Age/Gender: 5 years, Male
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Temperment: Sweet, affectionate, calm

House Training: Good!
Crate Training: He tolerates it, but he's doesn't love going in. His current foster doesn't find the need to crate him, he isn't destructive.
Other Dogs: We was recently spotted snuggling with another little Chi at a recent event (Grasshopper)!
Cats: Untested but should be fine with proper introduction
Children: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older
Adoption Donation: $300
Health: Mitch is healthy! He is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.

History: Mitch was rescued from a hoarding situation, although we think he may have been a favorite since he has some basic training and isn't nervous with people. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!

Notes from Mitch's Foster Home: Mitch is a sweetheart with a calm and laidback personality. He's very cute with great markings and he's got a beautiful coat. He's well behaved, especially considering where he came from. He's affectionate and likes to be near his people or keep them in sight, and he enjoys sitting on his foster mom's lap. Often if she looks for him and can't see him, she checks behind her and there he is. If there's no lap room, he will climb up and sleep on the cushion behind his foster with his head on her shoulder.

Mitch's favorite spot to hang out is up on the back of the couch looking out the window at the street. He signals quite clearly when he wants to be picked up with a pleading look and by scratching at your leg. If told "no", however, he will give up; overall he's very well mannered. He doesn't seem to know many commands, but he already will come when called -- not consistently yet but we're practicing that! He's a bit harder to train as he's not interested in treats as rewards, although he will eat his regular food just fine. He's good about going outside to potty when he's taken out.

Most of the time Mitch is very quiet, he's not "yappy" at all. He has a good bark, though, and will join in when the others are barking or if he sees or hears something outside. Outside he likes to explore in the yard and go for walks. He's good on the leash; no pulling or getting tangled up. So far he's been good with people. He's growled at  his foster's dogs a couple of times but they ignore him and his foster corrects him and he stops. If he goes to a home with another dog, he'll need a proper introduction so that he minds his manners. So far he's not shown any interest in toys, but we're still getting to know him and we think he may become more playful as he relaxes into his surroundings. Mitch is a wonderful dog who is happily awaiting his new start in life out of a hoarding situation; could his forever home be with you?

All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.

Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet! For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org.

Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!

Woof,

The Motley Zoo Crew
