Meet Max-ADOPTED

Meet Max, a very sweet, loving, beautiful Lab/Husky/Shepherd mix who is 1-2 years old and about 80 pounds. Max is very much a water loving dog. He loves his kiddy pool, the hose, and playing in his water bowl. He enjoys playing fetch outside, chewing on bones, going for long walks or jogs, and chasing rabbits and squirrels. In the video max is the big black pooch playing with the puppy and having a blast:))

When Max is inside, he is a perfect gentleman, and he has never had an accident in the foster mom's home. He doesn't chew on anything other than bones and chew toys, doesn't rough house, doesn't mark, and doesn't counter surf . He loves to lay around and be pet. He really loves his bones so be sure to have antlers and bones around for him. Max is a very smart boy and a fast learner. He knows sit, lay down, stay, leave it, is leash trained, and crate trained. He is still learning stand and shake. He doesn't always come when called, especially if he is chasing something, but he responds well to a whistle.

Max is young so he is looking for a home that will give him plenty of exercise, love, and attention. If you are a walker or a runner, Max would be a great match for you. He is great with dogs and children but he would do best in a home with children 7 and over, and a medium or larger laid back dog because he is very strong and plays very hard. He was in a home for several days with children, and Max loved them along with the resident kitty.

Max is a little shy in new situations and around new people but he warms up very quickly and he forms a strong bond with his people. He is a very loyal and loving dog and will be a great companion. Max hasn't shown any toy, food, bone, or treat aggression. Max needs to be in a home with a strong minded owner that will be consistent and keep him on a schedule. Like many Shepherds, Max is strong willed, so he will need an owner that will have him "earn" things that he wants. For example, at meal times his foster parents have him lay down and wait until they tell him to eat (usually no more than 10-15 seconds). Another example, he has to sit and wait at the door before he can go outside or come inside.

Max came from a high kill shelter in Southern Illinois. We are so happy we were able to pull this sweet boy as he has so much life and love to give. Looking at his adorable face and seeing his personality, it's hard to imagine how such a wonderful dog could end up alone on death row. Lucky for him, we saw his face, knew his loving potential and saved him so he could meet a wonderful family deserving of his love.

He is being fostered in a home in Sandwich, which is where you would go to meet him if your application is approved. If you would like to be the first to meet this absolutely terrific dog, please go to the angelsonwheels.org to complete the on-line application. Please be patient with the process. We are all volunteers trying to make a difference. It does take a few days to process applications.

The adoption fee of $150.00 includes: His neutering which is already done, Heart worm tested negative, rabies vaccinated, received his bordatella vaccination for the prevention of kennel cough, microchipped, up to date on vaccination for Distemper-Adenovirus-Parainfluenza-Parvo, dewormed, treated with Revolution for the prevention of fleas, and monthly heartworm preventative, martingale collar, and double handle leash. You will also receive a free office visit to Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, Yorkville Animal Hospital, Midwest Animal Hospital in Orland Park or Wheaton Animal Hospital, a training dvd, and tons of coupons for Petco.

The adoption also comes with a free puppy/doggy class through Flydogs located at Central Bark Doggie Day Care in Oswego, which introduces you to housebreaking, name recognition, crate training, sit/stay and leash walking. This is one free class you really don't want to miss, and 10% off purchase of a 10-day care package for dogs attending Central Bark Doggy Day Care in Oswego.

Please note that we are a foster based rescue and do not have a facility, which means all of our animals are cared for in homes of wonderful people who have volunteered their time to help save them.

Thank you for looking at our rescued animals and wanting to give them a wonderful home.
