Meet Russell

Are you a person with patience and lots of love to give? Russell is one of a group of seven dogs dropped by their person at a NC shelter, because they were not good at hunting. He and his friends were brought all the way to Helping Hounds for a little TLC. Suddenly the door opened, and Russell got his first glimpse of love. People have always let him down before, so Russell has a hard time believing this time will be different. It's been slow-going, but sweet, gentle Russell is coming out of his shell. It takes quite a bit of effort on his part to trust attention and not think it's going to hurt, so he's getting lots of affection to help him learn to trust his new human friends. Even a big gust of wind is scary, but Russell just needs someone to reassure him that everything's going to be okay. He would do best in a low-key home without small children.
