** ADOPTED ** Thank you to everyone who wanted to provide Lucky with a loving home! Unless otherwise requested, any adoption applications we received will be kept on file for future adoption consideration.

Lucky adjusted great to becoming a tripod, see his video at http://youtu.be/3swaHMynWjY. For an additional video of Lucky (before the surgery), visit http://youtu.be/KRo9cLmW3EE

Lucky is so smart and popular that he's now on facebook! Check out his page for information, pictures, and a smile at: http://www.facebook.com/AdoptLucky

Name: Lucky
Age/Gender: 8 months (born early December 2011), Male
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Temperment: Loving, cuddly, happy, silly
Weight: 32 lbs
House Training: Good!
Crate Training: Good!
Other Dogs: Good, he's even great with small dogs.
Cats: Great, he leaves them alone even when they bother him; he would likely play with one that is willing. ;)
Children: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older
Adoption Donation: $375
Health: Lucky was hit by a car and suffered a bad leg break with nerve damage so in early May 2012, he had to have his injured back leg removed. He is now fully recovered from the amputation and is doing great! He lets people touch and handle the stump with no issues. He is healthy, neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.

History: Lucky was surrendered to a shelter after he was hit by a car. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!

Notes from Lucky's Foster Home: Lucky is a very sweet and affectionate. Lucky had a rough go when he first arrived, dealing with a bad break and the pain associated it with. Finally due to nerve damage, he had the bad leg removed and he is doing so much better on three legs than he was on four! He still falls at times, but it is less and less everyday! One VERY important note: he should NEVER be allowed around deep water without supervision; he fell into his foster's pond and wasn't able to swim out with only three legs, he needed human rescue! That being said, he loves to swim with a lifevest and it is really great for him to do so, it helps him strengthen his three legs and gives him much needed exercise! His remaining back leg needs to continue to build strength, so encouraging him to stand still on it, as well as some massage and gentle stretching will help him a lot. Basically, he can do anything that a four-legged dog can do, but he'd likely tire on anything more than a 5 mile walk.

Lucky is an energetic and silly boy. He needs exercise as he does have a lot of puppy energy to burn. He absolutely loves going to the dog park and does great with all the dogs there - he responds really well to the cues that other dogs give him. Lucky is SUCH a happy guy and he absolutely loves being outside. He is a medium energy puppy but he quiets down instantly when he's in his crate. He is very affectionate and loves people!

Lucky is the sweetest, most adorable dog that you'll ever meet. He does some puppy mouthing, which we are working on and should be completely discouraged in his forever home. He is easy to correct, however, as he listens really well and wants to please. His favorite thing to do is roll over on his back for belly rubs while meeting new people and he does love to give kisses, although not obnoxiously. He is truly a special guy, a favorite of everyone who meets him! He is a great ambassador for his breed - do you have room in your heart and home for a truly wonderful dog? :)

All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.

Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet! For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org.

Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!

Woof,

The Motley Zoo Crew
