Copper is a very loving and sweet male cocker spaniel-poodle mix. He is 1 year old (DOB 4/11/2011), goal weight of 14 lbs, 12-14” tall, neutered, micro chipped & current on all his shots.
He likes rawhide chews & will spend hours working on them. Copper loves to be outdoors especially when it’s warm & bask in the sun & chase squirrels. He is a good watch dog & will alert his owners when he hears the doorbell/knocking.
Copper is shy with new people until he feels comfortable with them. But after he gets to know you he will want to be loved, held, petted & brushed. He is a cuddle bug & will sit quietly next to you. One look into those big brown eyes & your heart is sure to melt.
He is socialized with other dogs & loves to spend hours at a time playing with them. Copper is a good eater & likes to sleep in his own bed.
Copper came from a home of 5 unruly children all under the age of 12 & is weary of small children. It may be best if he finds a home without children. When he came to me in Sept 2011, he had been hit by a car in August, & his left rear legs femur ball had been severed. He had surgery & is recovering nicely. For the next 5 months, Coppers Vet recommends he needs daily exercise daily to fully regain muscle/ligament strength such as daily walks, climbing stairs & walking on his hind legs and he needs to keep his weight under 14 lbs.
Copper is working on basic commands-sit, stay, come, etc. & not 100% potty trained & partially "pee pad trained". If taken outside regularly he doesn’t have "accidents". With a little bit of work &/or pet door trained, he can be the perfect companion for a caring, loving adult.
