My Story: Doyle has had quite a journey.  After his original owner passed away he was taken to a shelter where he waited, until he made his way to Pet Haven for some one-on-one attention in a foster home. He as adopted out in 2011 but a hectic work schedule did not allow for adequate attention and he is now back in foster care - and loving it!


Hobbies: He is very attentive and always upbeat.  He feels very safe in his kennel and is content in there while his parents are away.  When they're home he enjoys following his parents around the house and loves to explore the backyard. 


Commands/Tricks: Doyle is naturally very attentive and polite - but that doesn't mean he'll sit when you tell him to!  That takes some coaxing. 


Crate / Potty Trained: Crate trained, yes! Potty trained, yes!


Activity Level: Low: Due to a slipped disk in his back (which has now healed), Doyle has only 80% functioning of his back legs. He loves to go for a short walk and following you around, but he's very low key and mellow. To be clear, Doyle's "issues" with his back legs do not cause him any pain and he does get around just fine. He might fall every once in a while but he just gets right back up and continues on his way.


Fun things I do: Doyle loves to burrow under blankets/pillows/people to achieve maximum comfort. Doyle has a very charming personality and anyone who meets him will fall in love with this dashing young Daschund!


Socialization/who I currently live with: Doyle lives with his foster mom and dad, 2 dogs (a standard dachshund and a 100lb lab/shepherd mix) and a cat.


My Ideal Family: Doyle is looking for a family to love him. He is very social and loves to interact.  He does have some slight resource guarding issues therefore he should not go to a home with kids under the age of 12. Also, because of his "issues" with his back legs, stairs can be a little tough for him and he knows this, so a home with minimal stairs would be ideal.







Doyle is attending Pet Haven's small dog adoption events and his adoption fee is $300 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.


Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
