Barely a year old herself, sweet Greta has already raised a litter of pups .. yup, bred her very first heat cycle; living in poor conditions and to top it all off; her puppies were yanked from her when they were only 5 weeks old (given away for free). Then, the owner did not want her anymore and turned her in to us. Her story just broke our hearts! Being a baby herself, to see Greta so thin with her long teats - no young dog should have to go through this! We believe it was Greta's lucky day to have crossed the RHS doorstep - boy, is her life a-changing! We do see some Pit Bull in her features but Greta is really fine boned and came to us only weighing 38# ...she is putting on weight but we cannot pinpoint what her "mix" might be. For such a crappy beginning in her life, she is proving to be an absolute sweetheart! She LOVES people and follows her foster mom around the house like a shadow ... very much a cuddler and...

Greta is slowly coming out of her shell and has started playing with the other dogs in the foster home ... she is now doing play bows and gets her foster sister to chase her; having a blast together! So much fun to see Greta learn to just be a dog! She is now an incredibly happy dog with a tail that wags continually! Although she can be playful ... Greta is mostly mellow. If you just want to chill and watch TV, she will be at your side and very non-demanding. This girl gets a long great with all of the dogs in the foster home - she is not a dominant dog but not overly submissive either so more "middle of the pack". Greta shows a lot of interest in the cats in the home and the neighbors cat in the yard - she has not gone after one but the foster mom is very vigilant. With that in mind, we would have to say that she would do best in a home without kitties. Greta was raised with kids so she should be OK with older children who are respectful. Housebroke, crate trained, soon to be spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped -- here is an incredibly sweet girl who SO deserves a second chance in life. You have to meet her in person to appreciate her kind and loving demeanor!
