Meet Patrick ADOPTION PENDING

PATRICK.....Adoption Donation Fee $200..... 6/19/12 After a good bath and nail trim, Patrick was happy to pose for his foster mom. We updated his Petfinder page with a handsome new photo that we took at the lake, a favorite place of Patrick's. He does not swim but very much enjoys getting a drink from the lake and sitting near the water for extended periods of time. Rocky terrain does not hinder Patrick from going where he wants to go. 5/27/12 Patrick is now ready for adoption. Check out his video to see how this boy can get a move on. We do feel that he will be best as an only dog. While he tolerates other dogs, Patrick is not thrilled with them and prefers that they leave him be. As for people, Patrick thoroughly enjoys the company of his hoomans. 5/07/12 Patrick's surgery went really well and so has his recovery. We are very pleased at how good of a patient Patrick has been. He is getting about fabulously on three legs...much better than he did with four! We will continue his pain meds for several more days as well as his oral and topical antibiotics. Patrick has not bothered the incision, infact, he hardly pays any attention to it at all. Great job, Patrick!********************************** 4/21/12 The orthopedic consult has brought us to the decision to have Patrick's bad leg removed as it is painful for him and also useless to him for getting about. The surgery will take place soon. Recovery will take less than two weeks. Since Patrick has been using only three legs for a long time now, we expect him to adjust very well. Our best to this handsome boy for a speedy recovery and a pain free every day.********************************************* 4/7/12 Patrick will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon later this month. Please check back to see what we learn. Meanwhile Patrick contuinues to be a bouncy, playful fella who loves attention from people and is learning to share his space with the other fosters as well. *************************************** 3/13/12 UPDATE... Patrick's x-rays revealed that he has most likely been hit/run over by an automobile. He has damage to both rear hips/legs. We are seeking an orthopedic surgery consult to determine if there is more that can be done for handsome Patrick. Please check back for updates.************************************* Dear Patrick has definitely been down on his luck but must have just found a four leaf clover that is changing his luck to GOOD! Patrick was apparently abandoned. With great effort to find his owner we have concluded that Patrick does not have anyone looking to reclaim him. Without hesitation the Faery Tails crew is getting Patrick's health needs addressed. No more fleas, ticks or worms for this fine fella! Our vet examined Patrick and this is what we have learned thus far... Patrick is estimated to be 5 to 7 years old. He weighs 40 pounds and must lose some significant weight especially since one rear leg appears to be of no use in helping Patrick to move about. In one week we will obtain x-rays in hopes of determining just what this leg/hip issue is. We are thankful that Patrick is heart worm negative. Even though this boy has apparently suffered trauma and is battling worms and ticks and fleas, he has shown us that he is very loving and he was very cooperative with all the necessary shots and manipulation during his vet visit. Our initial impression of Patrick is that he would very much enjoy a home where he can be a big part of the family both indoors and tooling around with his people in a secured yard. Patrick may only have three good legs but he puts those three to very good use and therefore he can still move about fairly rapidly. If you feel this handsome fella would be a great addition to you/ your family please send an application for consideration of adopting this good boy.*************************************************************************************************THANK YOU to Sponsor, Jeannette W., in memory of her corgi, Frodo! ****************************************************************************** THANK YOU to Sponsor, Megan C. aka Sweet Tea's mom! ************************************************************************************** THANK YOU to Sponsor, CorgiAid!
