Meet Boomer

Handsome Boomer is a 75 pound purebred Walker Coonhound around 4 or 5 years old. He came to us from a friend who found him wondering in the country. After weeks of attempting to find his owners he came into Star-Mar to find his new home.

Boomer has not had the best past. He was found wondering, emaciated and has vision problems. Our vet thinks that Boomer has partial retinal detachment, most likely from an injury. He does see but not well. He cannot see in the areas where the retina is detached which makes his vision blotchy. None of that seems to slow Boomer down. He races around the yard at lighting speed with his foster friends. He sees well enough to get around without difficulty and to run at full speed without running into anything.

Boomer is gorgeous. He has a beautiful, slick, shiny coat and a booming voice. Let us not forget that Boomer is a Coonhound and good vocal cords on a Coonhound is a must. He does not bark, he bays. If you talk to him, he talks to you.

Boomer has all the wonderful traits of a Coonhound; he is soft and sweet, well natured and playful. He is laid back in your house if his needs are met. This can be done with a good DAILY walk or even better with a jogging partner. He likes his creature comforts and that means the sofa but he is more then willing to share if that means that he can lay his head in your lap.

Boomer likes other dogs, is crate trained and house trained to a doggie door. Unlike many Coonhounds, Boomer does not climb the fence so a four foot chain link or wooden fence will keep him safe.

Boomer would do best living in a house with another dog. He would be fine with older children and someone who is not working a typical 40 hour work week; someone who works from home, works part time or is retired. He will need daily exercise to continue to be a happy boy.

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment met Boomer's needs please e-mail learymjri@aol.com for an application. Click on the Star-Mar Rescue link below his pictures to read about our program and our adoption requirements.

Please note that Star-Mar Rescue does not buy dogs to "adopt" . All dogs in Star-Mar's program are from shelters or were relinquished to rescue without pay. Star-Mar Rescue does not use Petfinder to buy and sell dogs under the guise of rescue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING TO ADOPT A RESCUE DOG AND GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!
