My Story: I was rescued in early February 2012 from a hoarding situation in Bemidji (http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2012/02/21/hope-for-neglected-dogs-taken-from-bemidji-homes/). The Humane Society decided it would be best to place me in a foster home to give me a chance to adapt to this change. I was one of a few who were selected by Pet Haven to be rehabilitated.

Hobbies: I am very laid back and relaxed. I enjoy calm environments and love to cuddle. I am very curious and sometimes shy, but I am not picky about who I am with as long as there is someone around...

Commands/Tricks: I respond better to noises rather than words as I get confused, but that may change in time. I understand the laying down command when you get on your knees and tap the ground. I also respond to my name and understand when I am not supposed to be doing something when you pshhh me.

Crate / Potty Trained:Yes, for the most part. I do still have accidents but if you pay close attention to me I will let you know when I need to go. Right now, I am being potty trained and I understand that as soon as I go to the bathroom outside, I get to come inside where it is warm. My only difficulty is doing both tasks in one outing.

Activity Level: Medium. My activity level seems to be the highest in the morning or whenever I have been left alone for any period of time. I really enjoy lounging but Im always up and ready to play when you are.

Fun things I do: I am very silly and love to roll around. I am sometimes told that I have cat-like tendencies in that I arch my back when being pet and I also love to rub against soft surfaces. I am not a biter and fetch doesnt really interest me at this point. I am very crafty and I like to sneak onto your lap if it looks comfy.

Socialization/who I currently live with: I am more curious than social, although I never really mind the company. I typically go around and sniff everyone before I can relax. For the most part I am more reactive than active. If you are social with me, then I will return the action. Currently, I live with a young couple in their 2-bedroom apartment and have been exposed to their family and friends --- all of various ages. Everyone seems to have fallen in love with me as I am sure you will too.

My Ideal Family: Ideally, I would love to be adopted by someone who can be around more than not. I do have some slight separation anxiety, but will settle down after a while. I am very attached and keep tabs on everyone in my family. If a member leaves, I will cry for a little while until comforted. I am comfortable around all ages and other dogs, but I also love my piece and quiet.

Diamond is attending Pet Haven's small dog adoption events and her adoption fee is $300 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
