Meet Abraham! (Don't forget to view his slideshow below!)
Abraham is approximately 8 months old and weighs 40 lbs. as of 7/1/12. We believe he is a staffordshire bull terrier/belgian malanois mix.
While at the shelter, his legs became deformed from being sprayed with cleaners and living on wet concrete which is something the shelter will euthanize for and we could not let that happen, so we rescued him from the shelter. He has recovered from his ordeal in the shelter and is now a very happy, healthy, playful boy!
We think he will probably be a medium size stocky dog. His front legs bow out like a bull dog, it is adorable. This little guy is ALL rambunctious and playful puppy! His foster is currently working on house...

We think he will probably be a medium size stocky dog. His front legs bow out like a bull dog, it is adorable. This little guy is ALL rambunctious and playful puppy! His foster is currently working on house training and some basic obedience with him. Due to Abraham's young age and puppy behavior in relation to his size, we are not recommending a home with very young children for Abe. Children who are 10+ would be best so they can assist in his training.Abraham LOVES playing with other dogs and would enjoy having an equally spry playmate in his new home. Abe did meet a cat as well, and was curious but cautious.
This little guy is constantly sprinting across his foster mom's living room and running head first into the couch cushions, or jumping onto the back of his (very patient) foster brother. Abe is sure to keep you laughing if you're lucky enough to adopt this gorgeous boy!
Adoption Donation: $400.00
Interested in adopting this wonderful dog? Please visit our website and complete an online adoption application.
http://www.pawsnewengland.com/adoption-form/
The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (age appropriate vaccinations, spaying/neutering -when age appropriate- heartworm testing/treatment when necessary and includes transportation to New England at $140.00 per dog.
In addition, PAWS NEW ENGLAND has joined with VCA Veterinary Hospital to offer adopters an initial health consultation in New England at a VCA Hospital free of charge with treatment during the first seven days of adoption of common canine illnesses associated with these lucky pups, i.e. kennel cough, fecal parasites, etc. also free of charge.
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE LOCATED OUTSIDE OF RHODE ISLAND BOARDED EITHER PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES OR TRAINING FACILITIES. If a dog is listed as "local", he /she is at one of our foster homes in New England.
We are often asked, ""Why would you charge ""so much"" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in discounted vet care, and many people will want to adopt it; an older dog with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt him/her. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others.
As most dogs do not walk into a shelter with their parents birth certificates in their mouths, we cannot verify the breed mix of any dog listed. ALL KNOWN INFORMATION IS LISTED HERE. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history or confirmation of breed mix.
