Meet Dakota

Hello, my name is Dakota. I am an adorable black lab who loves to play with my stuffed toys – especially Mr. Ducky. At the experienced age of 12 years old, I weigh about 85 lbs, perfect for a fit girl like me!

My owners are so sad to give me and my fur-brother Hooch up, but my family has fallen on tough times and has to move to an apartment where I’m not allowed. I’ve lived with my original family for my whole life, and have been with Hooch for the past 12 years. Hooch (please check him out on the Brookline website too) and I get along great with each other and with other dogs. We love to play but also know how to settle. As mentioned, my favorite toy is a stuffed duck, but I also get excited when you throw the stuffed yellow kitty! Hooch and I are used to someone being home with us during the day but we are also totally fine being left alone with free roam of the house. We’ve grown up around children of all ages and enjoy their attention, but would also enjoy a quiet home.

I am an easy-going lab who is affectionate and loyal. I’m very well trained and housebroken, and even ring a bell at the back door when it’s time for potty. I am used to mostly back-yard play but prefer to be with my people. Because I am trained on an invisible fence and stick to hanging out in the yard, I may need a refresher on leash etiquette. I might pull on the leash a bit, but with a little practice, I could easily learn how to walk nicely. I don’t counter-surf or jump on people. Although it has been a few years since I lived with cats, my owner thinks that I would be okay with them. I have a lot of energy for my age and have plenty of love to give!

I hope that my furever family is out there waiting for a sweet, loving girl like me. If so, please contact Brookline today.
