Meet MOODY BLUE

On the eve of January 7th, 2012, a woman came to the door of our Sanctuary with a cat in tow, begging for our help. Seems that she had come across a cat who had been locked inside of an abandoned Cedar Springs trailer for weeks without any type of food and very limited water for weeks! She had taken care of the cat, doing her best to put some meat on his ragged bones, but her brother-in-law, who was evidently in charge of renting out the trailer, told her she had to get him out immediately or he was going to shoot him. Not knowing what else to do or where else to turn on a cold Saturday night, she took her chances on us. Now we cannot take cats into our buildings right off the street for any reason, but we did have a volunteer who offered to take him home for the weekend (they didn't want to bother me on a rare weekend off) until I could work-him up on Monday. God love ya Gerri!

Well, luckily for this old fella, who was born I think in late 2003/early 2004, his time in solitary didn't do him in, and although still quite emaciated, filthy, had a bilateral ear infection and was anemic, his overall condition improved drastically with some good old fashioned TLC! He does look so 'wuhried' though, so when coming up with the purr-fect name for him, I decided easily on Moody Blue; no doubt he was singing the blues long and hard before he was finally rescued! I wish I knew the woman's name who took it upon herself to care for him and bring him to us - I hope you get a chance to read this, so you know how thankful we are, and he is as well!

It is ironic that he ended up at Big Sid's front door, as it isn't as well known as Crash's; when he tested positive for FIV, we welcomed him back with open arms. It took Moody Blue a few days to really start to feel comfortable with all of the hustle and bustle of our place; heck, after being forced to live alone for that long, no wonder he was a bit shell-shocked. I am thrilled to say that he looks fabulous now, even with those ragged-tagged ears that just give him for character. he also sports a few extra toes, which all the ladies go ga-ga over:) He is a really nice, fine gentleman who deserves more than anything to be treated with dignity and respect. We will do our very best to find him a home where he can experience this and so much more!
