Chessie Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix Ridgeland, SC

When "Chessie's" owner passed away no one in the family had room for "Chessie" and she was turned in to Animal Control (A/C). Large senior dogs are not usually even shown for adoption from A/C, they concentrate on placing the puppies and small breeds most people want. Forgotten, "Chessie" waited in a cage for a new owner who never came. Dogs never give up hope though, and after the Shelter Director called us a time or two we went by and met her. How could we not want this wonderful dog? Her large soft expressive eyes spoke of a loving spirit, a ready companion for walks and a cheerful heart to greet each new day. "Chessie" is the star of our Seniors for Seniors Program, wherein we provide a gentle well-trained dog like her to a qualified senior adopter free of charge, and we continue to provide all medical needs for "Chessie" for the rest of her lifetime.
