Meet Spike

Spike !

Spike - First impressions – Wow! Granted I just met Spike recently and have not spent months with him. My first and some say the most important impression is still, Wow. If you are looking for a hot wired racing machine, keep looking. However if you are looking for a relatively calm companion with some of life’s experience to his credit, you may want to read on- Spike is a gentleman. He is house broken, crate trained, knows some commands and has a steady approach to life. He has lived with small dogs, big dogs, kids, and grumpy old people. His former owners report no problems with any of his house mates. When Spike visited our house he adjusted to it quickly and soon won everybody’s endorsement. He is an adult and has settled into life’s rhythms. Spike is not wild and out of control. On his first visit, he seemed calm, attentive and in control of his wants and desires - being satisfied just to be with you. He is the type of dog that makes you feel good to be around him. He is not demanding of your time or space. He adds to your home with the stability and completeness that we all crave. Of course it doesn't hurt that he is photogenic and seems to know how to do cute things when you're watching. While puppies have been known to pee on the floor or eat your sofa, Mike would rather snuggle in the corner of the sofa and well --- pee outside. Life is not always warm and fuzzy. Spike has obviously been loved and well cared for but will find himself homeless in just a few days.  Spike is not a jumper, licker, or a nipper. He is a lover, with warm gentle eyes and a heart that is waiting for a special family to share their home with him. Spike has been a great companion and deserves an opportunity where he can again be part of a family. Do you think Spike could help you make your house a better home?

Adoption Process:

Guardianship Application available for download by clicking here

The Adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dogs and their human companions. The adoption process starts with a prescreen review of an Guardian Application. Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there will be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the MAPS after reviewing relevant information. MAPS reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is no guarantee that any applicant(s) requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPS, or posted on MAP's web site, will be granted an adoption. After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant's home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love !
