Meet Sugar Pie

Meet Sugar Pie! This pretty Black Lab/Boxer mix came to us from Sandusky Co. She is close to 2 years old and has completely grown out of her puppy stage. She is very sweet and affectionate with people that she knows and trusts, but is suspicious of strangers until she spends some time with them. She is a very shy girl and does not like to be petted by strangers. For this reason, she doesn't tend to enjoy adoption events. However, once she spends about a day with someone she really starts to warm up. She is completely house-broken and stays loose in the house during the day. She will bark occasionally if someone comes to the door or into the yard. When I get home she spins in circles out of excitement but will not jump up on people. She is very playful and enjoys ropes, bones, and especially balls, but she really loves any toy she can get her paws on! Tug of war with people and dogs is another favorite game of hers. She also loves the water and enjoys playing with the hose, sometimes doing flips in the air to chase the water. She gets the "zoomies" at night and will run in circles out of excitement. It is very cute. She does enjoy chasing squirrels and birds in the back yard and for this reason would do best in a home without pocket pets. However, she does okay with cats. Despite these bursts of excitement she is a relatively calm dog for being only 1-2 years old. She is well behaved and knows plenty of tricks (sit, down, come, paw, wait, and she knows to be polite and sit when asking for something). She also walks well on leash. She is best buds with her foster sister and brother but is shy around new dogs.
Sugar Pie is a truly wonderful dog and will cuddle with you on the couch or in bed. She would do best with family that understands that she will need a few days to warm up to them upon adoption. She would enjoy living with someone who does not have young children. Sugar Pie would require a fully-enclosed fenced yard (no electric fences) that she would NOT be left in during the day.
Her adoption fee is $175 and covers the cost of her spay, vaccines, preventative medications, microchip and 30 day free trial pet insurance. Canine Collective is a 501c3 non-profit organization and your adoption fee is a tax deductible contribution.
