Meet Journey has come a long way!

March 4, 2012 Update:

I just posted a new pictures of Journey, from my visit a couple days ago.

What a difference from Valentine's Day, when Vicky, Sandi & I went to Yorkville to take him into foster care.

His eyes were more stoic, his skin still slightly quivered to the touch and trying to put a collar on him was tough. I think he remembered the day when they caught him in Kentucky when he was running as a stray!

I personally, have visited him several times since then and, on my last visit...what a surprise! Well, first of all, let me start by saying he just ADORES Vicky, his foster mom. There is no doubt that she lights up his world when she goes to get him for Journey time.

On my last visit, Vicky and Journey were coming down the hall and when he saw me, it was total recognition! He jumped up, pounced on his front paws and came running down the hallway. As I dropped to my knees, he just washed my face with kisses...It was such a touching moment...He knows me! He let me hug him without pulling away and we played!

Journey is still learning how to be a home dog and is experiencing lots of new things, but, Yes, I'd say, this boy has come a long way!

:)

February 18, 2012 Update

After 2 months in the hospital, dear Journey has finally gone to foster care. You can see, by the pictures, what wonderful progress he has made in his physical healing. Now, in loving foster care, Journey will be ready to heal emotionally and continue to learn that people really can be loving and trustworthy.

Please consider helping us, help him with a donation for his care...Donations for Journey, and all dogs in IAMRA's care are much appreciated

Well, our volunteer & "Candystriper" Sandi went to visit Journey at the vet clinic today and we have a new video of Journey in motion. We found out this week that poor Journey has tapeworms. With this discovery and meds to rid them, our sweet boy should start to fill out and feel better. Sandy said he is a little less timid and enjoys taking snacks from your hand. He is also stronger on his feet.
IAMRA would like to thank those who dropped off donations, for Journey, at the vet clinic. Your kind consideration is much appreciated! Thank you!

IAMRA would like to express their most sincere appreciation for the outpouring of support and donations for Journey's care. This little boy has truly touched the hearts of many and your kindness has touched the hearts of all the volunteers who work so hard to rescue and save the animals in our care. Thank you for making the Holidays count for a dog who, just a few weeks ago, was out there all alone.

Sandi, an IAMRA volunteer visited Journey for a few minutes before the Christmas Holiday began. See his new video and photograph. He is still quite timid, and it will take a bit of time to heal his emotional scars, but his body is responding to medical treatment and we have hopes that as time heals, a happy and healthy dog will blossom.

Journey just arrived in rescue, from Kentucky, where he was running from and avoiding people, for a very long time. A leash sends him into distress and his unknown past has not been kind. His pictures are sure to shock but from here on, we intend for his luck and life to change.

Journey is being treat at our vet and we anticipate a long healing process. He has been treated for lice and his mange is severe, he is plagued with parasites and has a secondary infection...but we are hoping that with some special TLC, this "ugly duckling" will blossom and shine. Our sincerest thanks to Dawn, our dear friend at Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue and to one of our own wonderful volunteers, Virginia for doing the entire transpor from Kentucky to Illinois, so Journey would not have to change hands too often. Journey was a wonderful passenger and appreciated the bone he munched along the way.
We will keep you posted, with photos and updates, as Journey starts his recovery and begins his new life.
Please consider being a sponsor for our dear Journey. He deserves to have a few friends in his corner too. Thank you for your consideration and kindness.

DONATIONS TO JOURNEY'S CARE WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.
