Marley is a 2 year old, purebred, female, Newfoundland. She is a very pretty young lady that needs a special home.


Marley only has one rear leg due to an accident when she was only four days old. Please do not overlook her when considering newfs to adopt. She has never known anything but walking on three legs and does it very well. Marley has just as much love to give as any newf and deserves a wonderful home that is willing to accept it and overlook her handicap.




Update from Marley's foster Mom: I was asked to do an update on the progress that Marley has been making since she's been here and I've spent the last 12 hours trying to figure out how to describe her personality. I finally figured out that the best way to describe Marley now, is by comparing her to the drunk lady sliding down the banister yelling "whooo hooo, it's going to be a heck of a ride." Marley has gone from this desperate, insecure little dog into a full fledged comedian that decided she's going to make the best of the good life. If you show her how to do something the first time, she'll take over from there and start doing it by herself. The first trip down the stairs and back up again took 20 minutes. I thought I had probably traumatized her for life. 3 hours later she was running up and down the stairs by herself. Some of the other things she just figured out by herself. Over Christmas break Marley did her best to keep up with everybody. She figured out that with only one back leg that when she gets to the linoleum that she can sit down on her butt and run with her front legs and let her butt just slide. When she got back to the carpet she'd run on all 3 legs again. Apparently she didn't want rug burn on her butt. Seriously, I think she started doing that to conserve some of the energy in her one hind leg.




Marley still has an occasional potty accident in her crate while I'm at work, but then I am gone for 10 hours at a time. She has only had 1 accident in the last 2 weeks. The constant little growls are pretty much non-existent now. I think it's only been 1 little growl that has snuck out in the past couple weeks. When I said her name she looked at me and then lowered her head and wagged her tail. Darn it, she was caught. She has realized that new people coming into the house and the dogs coming close to me mean only 1 thing. That she will probably get petted a little more. She loves the Granddaughters also. After they have been here for a couple days and then leave again, Marley will go to the basement looking for them and crying. Then she comes upstairs and starts sticking her nose in the blankets looking for them.




Marley's mischievous side has also been showing up now. She thought Christmas was a blast. She had 5 adults and 2 kids to pay attention to her and she enjoyed every second of it. As soon as I stuffed a stocking and laid it down, she'd grab it and run off. She had to inspect each and every package that went under the tree, but would leave it alone when I told her "Uh, Uh Marley". Marley also loves to bounce through the house, turn suddenly, fall over and then roll on her back to get her belly rubbed. It's almost like she enjoys sliding around on the floor and makes a game out of it.




Marley seems to be a really fast learner. She knows my work routine and she does not like going in her crate when I am ready to leave. Last night instead of just hiding in the computer room, she took it 1 step further and hid behind the chair in the room. When I'm home she enjoys laying in the crate with the door open. She knows that it's where she can find the softest spot with the extra blankets. When I tell the dogs "Let's go night night" she will run in the bedroom and get in the crate. She has also been doing very well on the leash training.


Marley weighs in at 80 lbs. She needs to gain a few pounds but she is healthy, spayed, vaccinated and current on heartworm preventative.


Our adoption fee is $250.00. A fenced yard with a minimum height of 4-feet is required for adoption.

If you plan on submitting an application and you are out of our region, once your application is approved we require that you come to our area to meet the dog and foster family. If that goes well you will be able to take your Newfie home with you.
