SATIN Age: Born November 1, 2011 Sex: Female Breed: Great Dane/Newfoundland/Lab   Adoption Fee: $425   Good with cats: Puppy. Unknown, but can be trained. Good with dogs: Most likely. She is currently in rescue with various other foster dogs in addition to his siblings. Good with Kids: Most likely. She is still growing and learning. Origin: Owner Surrender - Lac Simon, Quebec (Anishnabe pups) TAG#: 1107 Hi, my name is SATIN and I am one of many lucky dogs to make my way from a Reserve in Quebec into rescue. My human family in Quebec decided to surrender me and my 7 siblings into rescue after Animal Rescue Corp. (ARC) came in to help us and countless other dogs. Check out Animal Rescue Corps. and the amazing rescue work they do at http://animalrescuecorps.org Our fur-mom is still with her human family in Quebec, so me and my siblings have a new (human) mom who is feeding and taking very good care of all of us while we await our most perfect forever homes. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, our biological mom wasn't surrendered along with us. Although we do miss our fur-mom a lot, we know that this arrangement was made out of love for us, and is in our best interest, so we're only looking ahead from this point onward. Right now, all I like to do is eat, sleep and poop, but I can't wait until I'm older so I can explore and learn so much more about the world around me! You can follow me and my siblings on our blog as we grow and learn at http://myloyalfosterdogs.blogspot.com/search/label/Anishnabe%20Puppies Thank You ARC and Loyal Rescue Inc. for giving us a new start in life! Someone will need to be available during the day to let the puppy out for regular potty breaks, which will help with house training. If there are no family members available, perhaps a neighbor or extended family can help with taking the pup out during the day. A two month old pup will need to go out approx. every 2 hours, a 3 months old pup, every 3 hours etc. increasing as the pup gets older, according to their age, as a general rule. Crate training a young puppy will also assist with house training, and keep the pup safe. A bored and/or teething puppy will want to find something to chew, preferably something in your home, so strong chew toys will be necessary to keep puppy from being destructive or bored. SATIN originated from Lac Simon, Quebec. SATIN is currently medium in size compared to her siblings and dark black in color with white on one of her paws. We lovingly call her Satin Jackson! with the white glove. We are told that dad is a Great Dane and mom is a Newfoundland dog. We suspect that the pups might also have lab in them as well from what we've been told. In other words, a beautiful mixture of larger to Giant gentle breed dogs! Large to Giant breed dogs can range in weight, weighing anywhere between 80-160 lbs + once FULL grown. It is quite possible that these pups have different fathers since SATIN is all black with bits of white on her and would resemble her mom in color more. Because these pups are possibly a mixture of 3 different breeds, it is unknown exactly how BIG they will get (individually).   Before considering adopting one of the Anishnabe pups, please do your research on ALL of these breeds to determine if Sapphire may be a good potential match for your home, family and lifestyle first. As with any breed of dog or mixed breeds, NOT ALL are suitable for all living situations. It is unknown at this time which characteristics SATIN will most likely take after from each of these breeds. She currently looks like she would be more Newf, just like mom, but as she grows, that could change.   Here are a few quick facts about the Newfoundland and Great Dane dogs:   The Newfoundland dog is legendary for its calm and docile nature and its strength and Loyalty. It is for this reason that this breed is known as "the gentle giant". International kennel clubs generally describe the breed as having a sweet temper. It typically has a deep bark, is easy to train if started young. They are exceptionally good with children, but due to their size at a very young age, small children could get accidentally leaned on and knocked down. The Newfoundland in general is good with other animals, but their size can create problems if not trained. They were originally bred and used as a working dog. Newfoundland dogs excel at water rescue/lifesaving due to their muscular build, thick double coat , webbed feet, and innate swimming abilities.   The Great Dane has a good disposition, often called a 'gentle giant'. Charming and affectionate, they are playful and patient with children. They love everyone and need to be around people. They are reliable, trustworthy and dependable. Courageous and loyal, they are good watchdogs. The Great Dane does not stay little for long and consistent training and rules should start right from puppy-hood. This giant dog should be taught to NOT to jump or lean on people. Great Danes require daily walks to remain healthy. However it is important not to over exercise this breed, particularly when young. The Great Dane is one of the world's tallest dog breeds.
