Currently Living at: Foster in DC Area. Sabrina needs a forever home!

Sabrina is a darling 9 month old, spayed Shepherd Mix. Our beautiful young blonde girl came to us a little underweight at 35 lbs, but she is getting to her healthy size at about 40 lbs and will likely grow a little bit more before she is full grown. We estimate she will be between 50 and 55 lbs when she is full grown. Sabrina is an incredibly sweet soul who loves be around people, and whose tail has been wagging lots since she arrived to the DC Area. She is very gentle with children from what we have seen (she loves to give them kisses!) and loves to play with other dogs. She doesn't seem terribly interested in bothering the cats in her foster home so would likely do fine with a kitty companion too!

Sabrina was abandoned by her owners in rural South Carolina, tied to the front porch of  her local veterinarian's office. The vet saw what a sweet girl Sabrina was immediately, and Lucky Dog was called in to bring her to the DC area and find her a forever family that is going to love on her for the many, many years Sabrina has to love them back. Sabrina is still very much a curious, silly puppy with playful energy and will need love, positive training and daily exercise to help her grow into a well-mannered adult. She only pulls on the leash sometimes when she sees something very interesting, and she is learning not to jump on her two legged friends when she gets excited to see them or play. She's learning what 'off' and 'no' mean though, and she also has mastered the commands of 'sit' and 'down' for treats.

Sabrina really enjoys trips to the dog park, and at home stuffed toys, tennis balls, and rope toys are among her favorites to play with. Sabrina loves to play hard with her canine foster sibling, but then will crash out on her doggie bed (or the the living room rug) to recharge her batteries. It's really fun to watch her in action!

When she's not in play mode, Sabrina loves to snuggle close to her foster parents and get scratched behind her beautiful ears, or flip on her back for belly rubs. Because she had been left in a scary situation by her previous owners, she will need her new family to reassure her, make her feel safe, and let her know she won't be abandoned again.

Like most shelter dogs, Sabrina may need a refresher on housetraining. She has been doing well in her foster home with crate training.
