ADOPTION
DONATION:
$250    (Before
adoption, this dog will have a complete health exam, be spayed, microchipped,
heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, and tested for parasites).

ABOUT HER: Mocha
came to us when we were contacted by an individual who had bred her once before.
She allowed her to get pregnant again, but because she had gone through it
before, she realized that they had neither the time nor the financial resources
to properly care for Luna and her puppies once they were born.  Incredibly
enough, Mocha had her first litter when she was ONLY SIX MONTHS OLD!  We do
at least give the owner credit for realizing her limitations and allowing Mocha
to come into rescue so that she and her babies could be properly cared for - and
that the babies will be adopted to fully-screened homes only AFTER pediatric
spay/neuter surgery!

Mocha came to us VERY close to
term, and on Halloween she presented us with 6 adorable little "tricks and
treats" - four males, two females, both red/white and black/white (the babies'
father is a black and white Siberian with blue eyes).  The puppies are
pretty much already spoken for with past adopters, but Mocha will be looking for
a forever home of her own around the first of the year, when the puppies have
reached 8 weeks old and can go home.

Mocha is in foster where is
delighting her foster mom.  She says:  "Mocha had lived mostly outside
before coming to us.  She is VERY sweet with people - when I went to pick
her up from the prior owner, the family's baby was eating Cheerios and Mocha
came and just gently started eating some.  When the baby grabbed Mocha by
the snout, she didn't react at all.  She has a wonderful temperament.
She's learning her house manners and is just a gem."  When I asked her for
a few more bullet points, she was right to the point saying:  "Sweet as can
be!  Adorable!  Gets along with other dogs!  Loves giving kisses!
And great with kids!"

We always do very well finding
homes so that our Mama dogs, when we get them have homes waiting for them just
like the babies do.  We hope you'll help us make sure Mocha has the same
great luck!

What to do
if you want to adopt this dog:
  SEND
AN EMAIL to request an adoption application and get started! We will
review your application to determine if there is a good match between your
family and this dog.  We may suggest another if we can offer a better fit in
terms of lifestyle, experience, other pets, etc. A vet check, reference checks,
and a home visit will be conducted before an adoption can be considered for
approval.

Northern
Lights does not have a physical shelter.

We are a non-profit
rescue organization comprised of individuals who open their private homes to
foster dogs in need of a second chance.  When
fosters are not available, we often pay to board a dog until space is available,
but we hope someday to have enough fosters to eliminate that need.
 If you would like
more information about how you can save a life by fostering for Northern Lights,

EMAIL US for info and an
application!

NOTICE:
In the vast majority of cases, the dogs in our program are rescued from
shelters, and Northern Lights has no means by which to collect or verify a dog's
history.  We work in concert with our veterinarians, and breed and age estimates
are based on a combination of professional input and our collective experience.
Our policy with information acquired while the dogs are in our care is that of
"full disclosure".  It is our goal to ensure the adopter has all available
information to ensure the best possible match between the dog and the adopting
person or family.  In some instances, because of applicant interest, dogs are in
our program for relatively brief periods of time.  If we have identified a
temperament or health condition while the dog is in our care and custody, every
effort will be made to correct it prior to adoption OR the adopter will be made
aware of the issue or condition prior to adoption.  Northern Lights' screening
process is designed to select only adopters who are willing, and have the means,
to treat conditions which may occur after adoption, and adopter will be
contractually responsible for doing so.
