Chaps Poodle & Maltese Mix Bloomington, IN

Posted 8/3/18. Playful and adventurous little Chaps is a 7 year old year old, 8lb. very spunky and fun loving miniature Maltipoo. He originally came to us from a local shelter and has recently been returned by his adopter from 6 years ago. Chaps loves his human and he LOVES playing with toys. He truly enjoys going for car rides, long hikes and walks. At at night he likes to curl up on the couch right next to you. Chaps gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with a dog he bonds with. He does best with females or more submissive dogs. He is fine with cats.
Chaps is initially shy with strangers and tries to be the classic ankle nipper when visitors first come in. He needs to be watched closely until he settles. We are not sure how that behavior was instilled in him but he was probably not properly socialized as a puppy and young adult. Chaps' behavior is due to insecurity and lack of confidence so he would definitely benefit from behavior modification training and lots of socialization.
Chaps is very sensitive and affectionate and overall well behaved. He responds very well to commands and is very eager to please his human. He is crate trained and house trained but may mark his new territory initially. He is easily excitable so a calm home environment is best for him.
For Chaps we are looking for a home with active people who understand his need for exercise and play time, attention, training and boundaries. We would like a home with a securely fenced in yard (no electric fence please) and possibly another pup about his size that he can play with.
Chaps is current on vaccinations including Rabies, he is neutered, he tested negative for heartworm, is on heartworm and flea prevention, and he is micro chipped.
