Rusty Chihuahua South Bend, IN

Rusty is our three legged, one bad eye wonder! He landed in the shelter after his owners decided they did not want him anymore. The animal shelter called us pleading for us to take him as being in the kennels was hard on this little guy. One of our volunteers thought he was the most precious thing so she is now fostering him. And he is doing Great!

Rusty is fine with dogs and cats but I will say, despite having only three legs, he sure wanted to chase my chickens when they stopped by so we could take some photos of him! Yea, he is qiuck. Took the chilckens by surprise too. I explained to him that the pair of chickens he was chasing came from the very same shelter he came from just a month before we got him - but know what? Rusty did not care! Silly dog. What was more funny was watching his foster dad, who has two good legs and is robust and young try to catch him! Mabye Rusty is not so special needs after all!

Rusty also has one eye that has been damaged. Sometimes it's noticiable and sometimes it's not. We were told that this eye had 'popped out' and was put back in by the vet. Seems odd to us. Anyway, whoever adopts him will want to be sure to keep an eye on this eye.

Rusty loves his foster family, is housetrained and great little dog. He is just three years of age.
