*Shirley/9 pups URGENT Boxer & Mountain Cur Mix Morehead, KY

11/3/11: Shirley's 9 pups had their first shot 11/3. They are 6 weeks old and need rescue as soon as possible. Currently at Jan's.

Sweet Shirley had 9 puppies 8/18. Most are all brindles and darling. My heart breaks for their uncertain future. When you see the abuse and neglect as we do on a daily basis to animals, it is sad to think of how precious and innocent these babies are now and what might possibly happen to them.

Shirley was abandoned by her owners in a mobile home they were renting. She, two other adult dogs, and seven puppies were found by the landlord. They were picked up by the Dog Warden on 8-12-11. All of them look to be underweight. Shirley seems to be friendly and quiet. She doesn't bark at neighboring dogs. She is a sweetie with visitors too. She is currently in Pen #2, and probably weighs 45 lbs. As of 8/27 her belly looks to be pregnant. :(


Dogs in the Rowan County K-9 Shelter receive their first dhppl vaccination (parvo/distemper) upon arrival at the pound. Rabies vaccine and spay/neuter surgery can be done for the $50 adoption fee. Please note rabies vaccine and surgeries are NOT done on site and dogs must be adopted before they receive rabies vaccine or surgery.
