Medical Info: spayed, up to date on her shots, and has recently been treated for heartworm disease.



Rose is amazing. She is thriving in her foster home and we know it is only a matter of time before she fully recuperates from her traumatic background. Rose is shy and timid of people but seems as though she desperately desires to engage with the crowd.



She is always looking on from the sidelines and wiggles her whole body as if she wants attention and backs away when people approach her. Rose has been so badly mistreated and it is obvious that she is not entirely sure that people can be trusted just yet.



Rose seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs, but still has not gotten to the point where she will play with other dogs in her foster home. She attaches herself to the quieter, older dogs and seems to really benefit from watching them.



We would ideally love to see Rose go to a home with another dog, but would be willing to consider her being an "only child." We have not seen Rose around cats, but do not have any concerns that she would harm another living thing. We believe that small children would scare her, so we are looking to place her in a home either no children or older children who would respect her shy nature.



It is impossible not to fall in love with this beautiful girl when you see her. She is gentle, sweet, and so deserving of a wonderful home. Rose was a victim of a cruelty case where she and seven other Aussies were seized from a home who kept them in a chicken coup and never socialized them. These dogs were used for profit only and, when animal control went in, these poor creatures were living in urine and excrement up to their knees. Of the group, Rose is one of the most well adjusted siblings and we know that she will flourish in a loving home.

Rose is a gorgeous pure bred red tri aussie that was one of 6 dogs PAWS rescued from a very neglectful environment in Maryland after breed specific rescues shamefully deemed them unworthy and turned their backs on them. These dogs have spent their entire lives secluded in a back yard, confined to a chicken coop with almost no human interaction. These dogs are the very definition of dogs worthy of rescue according to PAWS, and all of them are now in foster care and on the road to recovery. This dog is under-socialized with humans, so can only be adopted into a quiet home that is willing and able to give her a lot of time to adjust. She can not live with small children at this time, the noise and commotion would terrify her. Only experienced applicants will be considered.

PAWS of New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.



We are often asked, ""Why would you charge ""so much"" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" ..... The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support ALL rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in discounted vet care, and many people will want to adopt it; an older dog with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt him/her. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others.





Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption donations. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.
