Meet Addi

Addi just attended "Foster Dog Summit with Lisa-Marie Mulkern. Please read about Addi's Hike

Smart, loving, energictic and the perfect running or agility dog, Addi is about 2 1/2 years old in these pictures taken June 4, 2011 and is being fostered here in Maine. She is a Blue Healer mix (Pefinder does not have a Blue Heeler selection button.) She has been bounced around from Pillar to Post in her short life but it hasn't dampened her spirit any as she adjusts easily. A military family adopted Addi from a shelter when she was two. They loved her, as Addi got along with their other dogs and cats, and she is housetrained. She was the perfect addition to their family. That ended when the family moved into base housing. They were only allowed two dogs. The family had to make a choice and decided to give Addi up.
Addi loves to play with other dogs. She also likes to hog attention and she may do well as a "one and only" dog in your home, as she does not like to share affection, but has learned to love her foster canine companion. She bonds very easily with her human; so if you want a running companion or a dog that is sure to please in Agility, Addi is your gal.

See her slide show and more about Addi Below.

This is what we have been told about Addi. She is very sweet, affectionate, and smart. Addi is gentle around children, walks nicely on a leash, and rides well in the car. She does play fetch with toys or a ball and knows how to "drop it" if asked. Addi doesn't bark much except when she sees another dog. Her favorite hobby is chasing birds off the fence. Never caught one though. She is a HIGH energy dog.

Addi is spayed, up-to-date on shots, is Heartworm negative, and is on HW prevention. She is about 60 - 70 lbs.

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".
If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. **Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot.**

Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $350 for dogs through 6 months of age, $300 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $275 for dogs 6 years and older; (for bonded pairs: $250.00/per dog). This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/erlichea test, worming and for imported dogs: transport on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption. Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net/adopt and can be e-mailed to lonepine_AHR@yahoo.com
