Meet Gertie

Gertie is awaiting surgery this week, but after that, will still be on the hunt for her forever home!

My Goodness Gertie - you are a sweet, sweet dog! While Gertie may have a wrinkly face that you find "cute or not" :), her personality makes her a very popular dog down here at the shelter! Spend 5 minutes with this delightfully happy and well mannered little dog, and you're sure to fall in love. Once you take her out of the kennel, she is everything "Staffy" - her tail never ever stops wagging and she loves to cuddle and plastic people with kisses.

Although she is under 4 and pretty little at 34 lbs, she is an easy to handle "bully" that will make her a good fit for a lot of homes. She does have the typical sensitive skin that many bullies have, so a good quality diet and a home experienced with good skin care would be a bonus.

Gertie is housebroken, has very good house manners, and loves kids. She has office privileges at the shelter too. She walks easily on a leash and knows a lot of basic commands. She is fine with other dogs too, but no cats pls. Gertie's one bad habit is that she likes motorized rubber wheeled things as chew toys so the lawnmower is her arch enemy ;) She could care a less about bikes and other things like that, however she shows great promise in learning the "leave it command" and one can get back to mowing the grass. Outside of that, she's a "ready made" family dog.

Hours for adoption viewings are Mon - Friday from noon until 6 pm, and Sat/Sun from 10 - 4 pm. Please be advised that our dogs are strays, so we do not have any background history on them. To meet any of the dogs, please visit the Vancouver Animal Control Shelter (VACS) at 1280 Raymur Avenue in Vancouver, or call 604-871-6885.
