Meet Clara
Clara is a 2 year old Beagle mix who came to us back in May. We were able to pull her from the West Valley Animal Shelter. When Clara came into the program she was glowingly pregnant and gave birth to 5 pups three days later.
Clara was a tough girl through her pregnancy. For some reason she was left abandoned to fend for herself while carrying her pups. She was brave and strong and able to handle all the stresses from abandonment by her owners to placement in a shelter until she found her way to us. Clara was not in the best health at this time and birthing and feeding her puppies drained a lot of energy and weight from her. After taking a shining to our Foster Home, Clara began to rehabilitate to her healthy form very quickly.
It is quite clear that Clara is a protective dog and she holds strong to her Motherly instincts. She was really on guard when anybody approached her puppies. Though her pups are now growing and living in their own loving families Clara still carries a lot of protective qualities. She shies away from strangers and prefers to get to know people on her own terms. This quality may seem off putting to some but it should not deter anybody from knowing how great a dog she truly is.
Once Clara has had a chance to warm up to somebody she becomes very loving. She now follows her foster family everywhere and asks for loves and pets with a Beagle smile when she sits next to you. Clara currently lives in a foster home with a 3 year old and has shown absolutely no signs of aggressiveness towards the family or child. She plays great with other dogs and takes very well to positive reinforcement and training.
Clara has been through a lot in her short life and deserves a chance to find a home with a loving family. She needs a family who is understanding and willing to give her time and patience. We are confident that Clara will give back far more love than she has ever received.
Her adoption fee is $100.00
