Meet Lulu

July 4, 2011: Lulu was adopted.

This sweet doll is Lulu! Born on October 28, 2010, this Terrier/Miniature Pinscher cross is still just a puppy, bursting with enthusiasm and love to share. She is looking for a wonderful family to adopt and cuddle her for life.

No two ways about it ~ Lulu is simply adorable. When you see her, one of the first things you notice is that she positively wriggles in sheer delight when someone pays attention to her. Her entire body, from the tip of her nose to the end of her bobbed tail, wiggles back and forth, back and forth, just waiting for a pet. Her little tail is wagging so hard and fast, we’re sure it’s going to wag right off! It is delightful to watch her happiness when greeting people; she just loves everyone!

Lulu, or Lulubelle as her foster Dad affectionately calls her, is a wonderful and friendly girl with both adults and children. She loves people and likes nothing more than to cuddle up and receive hugs and kisses. Her coat is silky soft and her eyes will melt you with one look. She also likes other dogs and she especially likes to play and wrestle with them. She would like very much to join a family that has another young and playful dog for her to romp, wrestle and chase with. She is also in foster care with children and is sweet and gentle with them. She does have a tendency to get excited and jump up for attention so families with small children have to be aware of this. Her foster family is working on this behaviour and given her young age and desire to please people, it should not be a long term problem.

Because of her naturally bobbed tail and spunky personality we think she's part Terrier. We also think she's part gazelle or antelope! You should see her leap and bound!! She is a fairly small and slender dog but the heights and distances she can cover are amazing! You have to see it to believe it! And her spin moves are also something to behold. She can outmaneuver, outrun, out-spin almost any dog she's playing with because of her extreme agility. She is happiest when she's 'pronking' around the yard with another dog chasing her. It is just awesome to watch and it makes for hours of enjoyment. Her foster Mom is actually teaching her to play Frisbee to take advantage of her natural abilities and athleticism.

Lulubelle is in foster care with other dogs and cats and gets along well with both. When she first entered foster care she was possessive of her toys and food with other dogs but this behaviour is gradually disappearing as she learns proper dog etiquette from the other dogs in her foster home. She is not this way with people, only other dogs. We do not expect it to be a long term issue with her but her adoptive family should be aware of it.

At the age of 7 months Lulu weighs 28 lbs so we estimate she will grow to be a medium sized dog in the 35-45 lb range. She is an athletic dog and as she grows will need vigorous daily activity to be happy and stay fit. She absolutely loves to go for walks/runs and she's good on leash. Lulu especially loves the dog park! She is a huge hit and loves to have a pack chasing her as she shows off her moves. Once she's had her fill of exercise she is a well mannered dog in the house; not very hyper, quiet and she likes to sleep on her doggie bed.

Lulu is spayed, up to date with shots and in good health. She was born on October 28, 2010 and currently weighs 28 lbs. She is fully house and crate trained.

She was surrendered to HART because of allergies in the family, not because of something she did wrong.

Lulu is looking for an active, loving family to call her own. Could this be you????
If you would like to add this gentle girl to your family, please complete an adoption application found on HART's website: http://www.hartanimalrelief.ca/adoptions.htm.

An adoption donation of $350 applies and a fenced yard is required.

Lulu is being fostered in the St. Catharines Ontario area.
