Meet Beauty

Age: 7 years old (to be 8 in September) AKC Registered - OFA Hips GOOD - CERF exam for eyes - CLEAR.

Weight: 68 lbs

Released by family who was unable to keep her due to financial issues

Activity Level: LOW - Very quiet & calm natured labbie

Beauty is just that - A Beautiful English Bred Labrador. She is everything you could ask for. Quiet, Pleasing temperament. Beautiful, Expressive Eyes, Social & friendly with infants to seniors. She LOVES puppies & is very good natured with little dogs & also with cats. (She is also good with big dogs, but she loves the young & small). Beauty enjoys traveling in the car, talking walks (she never pulls you). She will play with toys, but only for a minute. She knows many commands & she never gets on the furniture. Easy to groom, likes water & has the prettiest coat. Now your thinking - it's too good to be true - WRONG. The only bad thing I can say about Beauty is she LOVES food. She will require crating when you are not home as she will sneak & eat whatever she can get ahold off. She never bothers anything when you are home & you can leave a sandwich sit out & she won't bother it. SHE LOVES her crate & often I find her sleeping in it with the door open. She would be a fantastic dog for a retired couple looking to have a quiet companion or for a family with small children as she is very mellow & will go out of her way not to knock little ones over. Beauty enjoys visiting our local nursing home & she sits quietly while she was petted by each resident. She is very affectionate and well mannered. Beauty is a smart girl too - she can open a gate with her nose, so your gate will need to be locked if she is left outside alone. She is truly a black beauty.

Ohio Labrador Retriever Rescue Services assists in re-homing labrador retrievers & other retriever breeds from owners who longer care for them, or from shelter overcrowding.

All of our labradors are required to pass temperament testing (10 step testing) and will be evaluated in a foster home environment for a minimum of 1 week before being posted on petfinder.

Our dogs live in our homes & we will share any behavioral or health concerns with you prior to adoption. We want to supply you with the best family pet possible.

Our application fee is $25.00 non-refundable, & this will allow us to gain information on you & provide you with a dog that fits your family & lifestyle. Our adoption fee is $250.00 & this includes the following.

One thing that sets us apart from other rescues is that we don't compromise care to save money. Our pets receive the same care during surgery that any human would receive. (such as IV fluids, morphine for pain, oxygen, blood pressure monitoring). For puppies (under 6 months), a series of 3 distemper vaccines & dogs (over 6 months) a series of 2 distemper vaccines, bordatella for kennel cough, rabies, (for dogs 16 weeks & older) heartworm testing & treatment (if required), monthly heartworm & flea preventative, fecal examination & treatment (if required), pre-surgerical bloodwork to examine liver and kidney function & glucose readings, spay or neuter, (post surgical pain management), hip & pelvic examination (check for hip dysplasia), microchip, identification tag, leash and collar are offered with each adoption.

All adoptions come with a 15 day money back return adoption fee policy. It may take between 2 to 4 weeks for your new dog to adjust in your home, so please be patient with your new family member.

Why adopt an adult dog? Because most are housebroken, crate trained, starting basic obedience training & adapt quickly to a new routine, plus we no longer chew on everything. Adult labs move into a new home so easily & quickly learn your routine. Give a rescued Lab a second chance for happiness. Don't breed or buy, save a Lab, rescue a Lab.

For more information on Ohio Lab Rescue, check out our web space on Petfinder or feel free to contact us via email or give us a call. We'd love to hear from you. "Saving Labradors in Ohio, one lab at a time."

Thank you for thinking rescue.

Rescue Me

Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well.
I will respond to you.

Rescue me not out of pity but out of love.
I will love you back.

Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion.
I will learn what you teach.

Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future.
I will relax and enjoy.

Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate your gift.

Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience.
I will please you.

Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become.
I will grow and mature.

Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me.
I will never let you down.

Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.

Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion.
I will stand by your side.

Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to soothe your spirit
I will cherish you.

Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend.
I will give you unconditional love.

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog.” (Author: Gene Hill)
