Meet Zoe

Zoe, a female adult calico, is looking for a loving permanent home. Zoe was brought to us last November by an acquaintance who had found her abandoned in a carrier on the street in Hell’s Kitchen. Zoe was a little ill-kempt but after a couple of weeks of care, she emerged as the beauty she is today. Throughout her ordeal, Zoe has maintained her sweet, affectionate nature. It took several weeks for her to establish a bond of trust with us but she did.

As an abandoned cat, we have no way of knowing if she has ever lived with other cats. She growls at our cats if they come anywhere near here. For this reason, we believe Zoe would be the perfect companion for someone who wants an ONLY cat. Additionally, it is our opinion that she would do better in a household without children.

Zoe has been to the vet and has tested negative for FIV/FELV. She has been vaccinated and is spayed. Zoe was slightly anemic when we got her but that has resolved (confirmed by a follow-up blood test). According to the vet, her teeth are in good shape and her blood test results all point to overall good health. The vet estimates that Zoe is between 3-4 years old.

She does however suffer from a very mild cerebellar hypoplasia, a non-life threatening condition, which manifests itself in tremors and a slight gait when she walks. Cerebellar hypoplasia is a disorder found in cats and dogs in which the cerebellum is not completely mature at birth. The vet advised that it is a static condition and will not shorten Zoe’s lifespan. Nor does it interfere with her love of playing and running.

Zoe really needs someone who can give her lots of love and attention. Once she is comfortable with a person, she can be very affectionate. Although not a lap cat so far, she loves being petted!
