Meet Max

Max us a big, lovable boy we pulled from the Yolo County shelter when they said he would otherwise be put down. He is an extremely affectionate rabbit who licks to give kisses in exchange for petting which he can never get enough of, but it needs to be on the floor because being held seems to scare him. Max must have been left outside because he was so excited about every indoor item in his new foster home. He doesn't chew on furniture so he currently has run of the kitchen with low pile rugs. He is still being tested for good behavior in the living room which is carpeted and smells like other rabbits who lived there before him. Max greets you every morning like a prairie dog standing tall to say "hi!" and "What's for breakfast!" Max seems to have figured out that good things come from behind the big cold door, so he runs to the fridge every time it's open and stands tall to ask for a treat. He even does acrobatics while waiting to be served. He is neutered and is used to the three resident indoor cats. He should do fine with well-behaved dogs as well.

We tried bonding Max to another rabbit in July which unfortunately did not work. While he did not form a bond with this particular rabbit, Max showed the potential to be a loving companion to another rabbit. He grooms and would love to find a rabbit that reciprocates this behavior.

Come and meet our fabulous foster rabbits!
All rabbits are spayed/neutered (age permitting) and litter box trained. All rabbits are to be adopted to indoor homes only. Current bunny parents are encouraged to bring their rabbits to adoption clinics if they are interested in adopting a companion rabbit. Your rabbit must be spayed or neutered to be eligible to meet one of our fosters. HRS volunteers will be happy to help your bunny through that feisty first date. Everyone is welcome to stop by for conversation, problem-solving and free information!
