Meet Starr

Starr is an adorable Chihuahua. She's 1-1/2 years old and weighs just 5 pounds - a perfect pint sized companion! She has a white coat with black markings on her face and just look at those bat ears - too cute!

Starr was rescued from a hoarding situation and is bashful until she gets to know you. Once she's comfortable, she loves to play and has quite the personality (check out her video!). She loves Nylabones and balls. She is also a little thief as she likes to take things and hide them in her crate. She is doing an excellent job with housetraining and is crate trained. She is very quiet and loves to cuddle up on the couch with her favorite person. She gets along well with all the dogs in the house (even the 100 lb plus dogs).

Starr is sure to bring hours of fun into your life, and she only asks for a few simple things in return: yummy food, water, a nice cozy spot to sleep in, and most of all - lots of TLC!!!

****Her adoption fee is $250.****

The Animal Rescue Project is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues—and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

All Animal Rescue Project pets also receive a Home Again microchip prior to adoption and one month of free medical insurance. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
