Update: 5.25.11 - Gwen got a reprieve and is happily living in a small pen with two other large lab mixes. All play nicely together but the big news is that our sweet Gwen is PREGNANT and needs immediate shelter.

5.18.11Poor Gwen is another pit that nobody wanted. Will be put to sleep 5/19. She was suppose to be killed today(5/18/), but there wasn't enough room in the truck


Update May 14. Gwen is still at the Pound and seems to be a real sweet girl. She is in Pen #5 by herself and pays no attention to neighboring puppies.

This momma was brought to the Pound for not getting along with neighbor's dogs. I went in her pen and petted her and she acted fine with me. She is scheduled to be put to sleep this May 10.


Dogs in the Rowan County K-9 Shelter receive their first dhppl vaccination (parvo/distemper) upon arrival at the pound. Rabies vaccine and spay/neuter surgery can be done for the $50 adoption fee. Please note rabies vaccine and surgeries are NOT done on site and dogs must be adopted before they receive rabies vaccine or surgery.
