Meet Lizzie
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to sueb@homewardtrails.org
Please consider a donation to Lizzie and Allison for their continued skin care and for other sweet dogs who come to us needing special care! They deserve it.
This adorably sweet girl is Lizzie. She has had one rough life, but you'd not know based on her outgoing, loving personality. She and her mom Allison were living in alley behind a pharmacy in NC where someone had dumped them. Nearly starved and sick with mange and skin/kidney infections, the girls were almost rounded up by Animal Control who would have euthanized them immediately. Luckily, a good Samaritan got them and quickly whisked them to a vet to save them from euthanasia and to hopefully await rescue. No one came. Eventually word made its way to Homeward Trails and the girls came to us!
Lizzie is now in a foster home. She has put on weight and looks healthy. Lizzie LOVES people, LOVES toys, LOVES soft beds. She is great with other dogs and enjoys going to the dog park. Lizzie is very energetic and will need solid training, as she has spent her life neglected. She is still working on crating and housebreaking, so a patient foster/adopter is required. Lizzie is learning basic commands and coming along wonderfully.
The adoption fee for this dog is $300 which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many!

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering.
Thank you for contacting Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
