Meet Yoda (Biscuit)

A perfect dog for Grandma's house, a companion dog, and families with dog experience!

- Plays wonderfully by himself, with other small dogs, and getting better daily playing with bigger dogs
- Nice mix of energy and calm quiet
- Crate trained, good and quiet all night and while we're out of the house
- House trained
- Very good in the car
- Loves to walk!
- Sweet and cuddly, loves to curl on the couch with his people
- Knows "sit", "stay", "come here"
- Cute and small! He is about 12 lbs.

Little Yoda has made incredible progress since he arrived in Calgary. He is a happy, playful, loving little dog with good mix of energy and calm quiet; equally happy playing with his toys or going for a walk as he is to lay on the porch for a nap or on the couch to cuddle up with his family. He is very cute! When he is ready to play or walk, one ear sticks up while the other is flopped down!
In a nutshell, Yoda would do best in a home with older kids or adults, or at least children who know how to be gentle with animals, as he is nervous of anyone being overly grabby with him. This little guy had some frightening things happen to him in his past, as anything reaching for him - especially from behind - makes him nervous. It used to frighten him, so just being a bit nervous of it is major progress! We have worked every day with him, reaching at him from behind, petting him, lightly tugging his fur and ears so that his fear of being grabbed is gradually being replaced fully with trust that nobody is going to hurt him. As such, his new family should have some dog experience, and experience with rescue dogs is a plus.

Yoda would do well as either an only dog or with a buddy or two - best dog buddies would be small to medium size who are either unconcerned with dominance either way, or who are playful but submissive, as large dominant dogs still make him a bit nervous (though he has come a really long way with this, so it's certainly not a deal-breaker.) He is good in the house, house-trained, crate-trained, no separation anxiety and good in the car. He walks beautifully on the leash, though he still hasn't figured out that he should always come back when called, so a long extendable leash at the dog park is best. He is doing much better with this and comes back when called about 80% of the time.

He likes going to the dog park and over the two months we've had him has learned his enjoys meeting new dogs along the way. He still gets nervous with large, rambunctious dogs, but is realizing they only want to play. Calmer large dogs he is fine with, and he loves to meet dogs around his size. He has three foster siblings, one of which is a larger border collie cross (and old!) and two smaller ones, and he does very well with all of them.
