Chanel Poodle Dover, MA

Chanel (Nellie) is a 3 1/2 year old (born 7/15/08) 8lb Tiny Apricot Poodle (Nellie is a very small Poodle who is solid) who came into Toy Poodle Rescue because she was being a little bit naughty and growling and sometimes biting her owners.

Toy Poodle Rescue agreed to take her and put her into our training program or otherwise she would have been euthanized. We see these issues all the time and we are the only Poodle Rescue Group that has trainers on staff to take in these Poodles that for no fault of their own have not been socialized enough and the expectation of behavior and good manners made clear.

Nellie was home all day by herself and was bored and because no one was there to tell her otherwise she decided she owned everything. After being in our training program, Nellie, as you can see from the photos and video, has learned to be a new and well behaved dog. We gave her a job to do and now she enjoys her new life and putting her God given intelligence to work. Nellie LOVES LOVES LOVES to do obedience, rally, agility and anything else that keeps her busy as she wants to make up for lost time sitting on the couch all day.


Nellie has passed her Canine Good Citizens Test with flying colors and is on the way to getting titles if her new owner so desired. Nellie is a very self assured little girl and needs to have a pack leader in her new owner and who understands there is only one leader and it is not her.
Nellie would be better as an only dog or with just another small dog and we would prefer a single person home for her.
Nellie is a working girl, (this dog is not just for companionship) and we want to see her go to a home that would utilize her intelligence and need to please her owner with good continued obedience for her continued success.

Leah, Jenny and Christina, Nellie's trainer's have done a wonderful job training her around the clock, turning Nellie around, so she see's the world differently and she is no longer angry. Who knew there was a whole world out there off the couch!


Requirements to adopt Chanel, we are looking for a very specific home for Chanel


Chanel is a dog that needs a home where their is structure and a knowledge of professional training and willing to continue OB classes

Be a single person, she loves her human

Be willing to do continued obedience with Nellie without exception

Be a walker who loves to go for walks everyday and keep her active and busy

Have knowledge or previously owned a Poodle, be dog savvy

Must be home so she is not left for long periods alone where she would be bored

Preference will definitely be given to an adopter who would like to do continued rally or agility sports

No children without exception

Poodles need to go to a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks at a cost of about $50, so please factor that into the costs associated with dog ownership.
