Meet Dutch ADOPTED

5.20.11 Dutch came through his second heartworm shots and is back home on limited activity and feeling better. He goes back around 6.8.11 for the final oral heartworm treatment.

4.12.11 Dutch had a tough time with his first heartworm treatment yesterday. He will try heartworm treatments again in 4 weeks to see if he does better.

4.10.11 update: Dutch was neutered last week and goes for heartworm treatments this week. He's now doing well on the leash, although he still has some fear and uncertainty about it. Dutch is getting happier every day. We just need to get him through his heartworm treatments and recovery process.

4.7.11 update: Dutch turned out to have heartworm. Please help us treat him which costs $300 - $400 dollars. He is quiet boy that deserves a second chance. Dutch does well indoors or out. He loves to hang out in the yard, and knows to wait and go to the bathroom outside. He's very gentle, and never bites or snaps, but he needs someone to help him trust again. Also needs work on leash training so he can go for walks. He weighs 38#.

Update 3.26.11: Dutchs' roomie has been adopted so he is going to be all alone. He will need a little TLC but there is a beautiful inner dog just waiting for someone to see the potential and give her a chance. This guy was caught in a live trap in Farmers 3/8/11. Dutch weighs about 40# and does well with other dogs. Just a little shy. Located in outside pen on left side (OSP #1). Can you give him chance?

Dogs in the Rowan County K-9 Shelter receive their first dhppl vaccination (parvo/distemper) upon arrival at the pound. Rabies vaccine and spay/neuter surgery can be done for the $50 adoption fee. Please note rabies vaccine and surgeries are NOT done on site and dogs must be adopted before they receive rabies vaccine or surgery.
