Name:Mesa

Breed:Rat Terrier Mix

Sex: Female

Age: 4 months

Medical Info: Too young to be neutered. Adopter will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract in addition to the standard adoption contract, up to date on vaccines, negative fecal exam

Hi! My name is Mesa and I am a female, 4 month old Rat Terrier mix. I am very sweet and I love to play. I also enjoy cuddling on the bed with a toy or chewy. My sister, Mimi May (also posted on our website) and I were pulled from the shelter in December and we were parvo positive. We survived Parvo and are such fighters!

We also were born with our little back legs slightly deformed. Mimi's legs are splayed out and Mesa's legs are pointed in. It does not affect how they play or get around.

They are absolutely wonderful and so well loved. I am crate-trained and almost housebroken. I get along with other dogs, children, people and cats. I am current on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention and have had a negative fecal.

This puppy is NOT altered this will not be done prior to adoption due to age and small size of dog a Spay/Neuter Contract will be part of the adoption contract and will be strictly enforced; PAWS NE has a program in place to assist with spay/neutering costs and/or refund of $60.00 if adopter chooses to have procedure done at their own veterinarian office.

Please consider adopting me and giving me my forever home.

Adoption Donation: $450

If you have any questions please email this dog's adoption coordinator Kelly at kellypawsnewengland@hotmail.com

Online adoption application required:

THIS PUPPY IS NOT ALTERED - any dog under 6 months of age is too young to be altered. Tufts Veterinary School has several programs for rescued dogs including a free spay/neuter clinic during certain times of the year and a Friday spay/neuter clinic at VERY discounted prices; we are happy to arrange the Friday appointment and cover the cost of the procedure. If you wish to have the surgery done by your own veterinarian, PAWS NE will refund the adopter $60.00 toward surgery once proof of the alteration is provided. Adopter will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract.

The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (vaccinations, spaying/neutering (when age appropriate%29, heartworm testing/treatment when necessary and includes transportation up to New England ($125.00 per dog%29. Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are located outside of Rhode Island boarded either at one of our vet clinics or in foster care. If a dog is listed as ""local,"" he /she is at one of our foster homes in New England.

We are often asked, ""Why would you charge ""so much"" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?"" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in (discounted%29 vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation%3B yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.

ALL KNOWN INFORMATION IS LISTED HERE. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.
