Meet Jamis
Jamis was adopted from a Tennessee shelter in 2010. Reluctantly, his owner needed to surrender him due to life changes. This handsome boy is close to two years old, weighing 87 pounds.

Jamis is very energetic. He loves to run, play ball, and go for walks. He is very affectionate as he loves to give licks, be pet, get baths, and snuggle in bed with his owner. Though Jamis loves to play with other dogs and people, he will happily play with toys too. He does fine with all dogs and cats as well. Jamis does suffer from separation anxiety disorder so he would do best in a home with people who are home a lot and who are willing to work with him. In his current foster home, his separation anxiety is getting better, but it will take time before he is totally comfortable being left at home without his people. Jamis is house trained, and he knows basic commands like sit, down, come, and go pee. He LOVES kids. His previous owner says, 'He has been trained to be gentle with infants- so he will look up at me before approaching to make sure it is okay and will periodically look up at me to make sure I am okay with his play behavior. My baby niece loves him to pieces and hugs him constantly." Overall, this gorgeous boy’s ideal forever home would include a big back yard, an active couple, playtime, patience, and lots of love. SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.
SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO A LOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.
HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS A LOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVALENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.
PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $350 for dogs through 6 months of age, $300 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $275 for dogs 6 years and older; (for bonded pairs: $250.00/per dog). This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/erlichea test, worming and for imported dogs: transport on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption.
