UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM 3/23

Roxy is now in New England! Be prepared to fall in love, because this little girl will just melt your heart. If you want a puppy to snuggle with, this is your girl! Roxy is all wiggles and tail wags and when you pet her, she just curls into you! It is the cutest, most endearing habit of hers. She is very affectionate and loves giving lots of puppy kisses. She is also the softest dog her foster parents have ever felt! She adores people and loves to say hi to everybody! She also adores all dogs. Currently, she is living with 2 dog siblings and a cat and she immediately won over everyone. She is interested in cats, but what dog isn't? Roxy is great in the car and enjoys car rides. She also loves going on walks and playing with her dog buddies. She is wonderful with our nephew, who is not yet 2. She is a good little eater, and is not food agressive at all. In fact, she is happy to share! She also enjoys chew toys and belly rubs. She looks like she is always smiling! Her nose is now all healed, and she is just a stunning, adorable girl with a huge heart. She is working on house training and is not 100% yet, but with patience and continued work, she will be there soon! She would most likely prefer to be in a home with another dog, because she is so loving and social, however, she would also do well in a home as an only dog too, provided she could go to the dog park and play sometimes! She is such a joy to be around and has so much love to give. All she wants is a home of her own and some love in return! New photos will be posted soon!

Roxy is very sweet, loves people, LOVES DOGS (especially nice ones and puppies) great on a leash, crate trained (DOES NOT POTTY IN HER CRATE), good personality, would be good with kids or other dogs. She has had a hard life so far. The people that owned her didn't take good care of her at all. In fact the last 7 dogs they had are all dead. She probably just knew she would be next but luckily she got out and is now in a foster home and thriving so much!

She was being treated for demodectic mange (the UNCONTAGIOUS kind) but is now all healed. Her fur is as soft as a velour blanket. She plays a lot of the time with little Violet (also listed on our site) and she lets Violet boss her around and take food and toys away from her (even though Violet is 1/3 her size). She’ll give you kisses as long as you can stand it and she deserves so much better than what she’s had in her life thus far.

Roxy is a very petite Chow mix little girl at only 35 pounds (and she’s full grown we believe. She is 8-9 months old, is heartworm negative and takes heartworm prevention, is now spayed and has had all of her vaccinations.

Donation: $400.00 (inclusive of transport to New England)

Interested in adopting this adorable dog? Please visit our website and complete an online adoption application.

The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (vaccinations, spaying/neutering (when age appropriate), heartworm testing/treatment when necessary and includes transportation up to New England ($125.00 per dog). Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are located outside of Rhode Island boarded either at one of our vet clinics or in foster care. If a dog is listed as "local, he /she is at one of our foster homes in New England.

PAWS of New England is not a shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.

We are often asked, "Why would you charge "so much" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in (discounted) vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.

ALL KNOWN INFORMATION IS LISTED HERE. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.
