Bull Terrier Mix: An adopted dog in Memphis, TN

Alright, so I have a silly name, I know. But, it's a cute story as to why I am named Allegra. As a puppy Allegra sneezed. She was just a few days old with her eyes still closed and just the cutest little sneeze erupting from her little body. So, the name Allegra it was for this sneezing girl! It seemed perfect at the time. It does not fit her now. She doesn't sneeze anymore! Allegra’s mom was rescued by a police woman winter 2003 when it was down to 18 degrees. Allegra's mom came to us very pregnant and quickly gave birth to 9 healthy puppies. Allegra was born at Sunny Meadows on 3/18/03. She was one of nine pups and is the only one that has yet to be adopted. We can’t imagine why Allegra has not been adopted in all these years. She is truly a sweet, loveable girl. Allegra adores everyone and everything. She loves other dogs and people too. Sadly, Sunny Meadows is the only place she has ever known....

This poor dog has been at Sunny Meadows since birth…6 years. She is one of our longest “long term” residents. We have over a hundred dogs. There are a mere handful of dogs that have been here longer than she has. We are truly honored to be able to care for her all of these years, but, know that this is not home. Surely we are not the only place she will ever know.
