Meet Glitter

Glitter is a gorgeous 7yo, female pure bred Yorkie. She has an amazing face and a silky coat that was recently trimmed short but would be beautiful long as well. She was recently retired and is now looking for her forever home. Glitter is 7 lbs but should be about 5-51/2lbs. She came to us chunky and we are working on getting her to a proper weight. This should help with her breathing as she is honking and it appears from Xrays taken that she likely has a collapsed trachea. This can be quite common in toy breeds. She will be seeing our Specialist at Tufts who is treating Cupid. She will likely have a scope done to determine what if any treatment is needed. She has been spayed and had a dental cleaning. She is up to date on vaccines and is heartworm negative. Glitter is also very housetrained to both pee pad or to go outside. Glitter is a sweet and playful low key dog and We will be looking for a low key home home that will continue to keep working on keeping her at a good weight. If interested in adopting Glitter please submit an adoption application on line at www.yorkiesinc.com
Update 2/7/2011: Glitter was seen by Dr Liz Rozanski today. After an exam, review of Xrays and a tracheal scope the doctor felt that Glitter is a candidate for tracheal ring surgery. She feels doing the surgery now before Glitter gets any worse, would greatly benefit her. After surgery Glitter will be able to breath normally and for many years to come. Surgery will be at least 1800. Please consider donating to her surgery costs below.
UPDATE 2/17/2011: Glitter had trachea surgery at Tufts today. Just spoke with Dr Liz Rozanski and Glitter is out of surgery and doing very well! She should be able to come home by tomorrow or Saturday. She will have some coughing for the next few days then marked improvement daily from there on end with full recovery in about 3 weeks! By then no more meds or surgery likely ever! Thank you all for the support and prayers!!
Update 3/13/11: Glitter is recovered from her surgery and is also now at a great weight...she looks and feels like a different.
