Meet Pearl

Pearl is a three year old hugable lovable fur ball. She doesn't mind being held and enjoys her greens and yogurt treats. She is litter box trained and has been spayed.  During play time she is often found standing up looking around checking out the scene and watching the other buns at play. Pearl can be 'cage agressive' and grunts when hands or other rabbits come into her area and those not heeding the warning grunt can get smacked... but once she's pick up, she's fine.

Pearl came to us from Indianapolis Animal Control April 2010.  All rabbits shed, some more than others, and Pearl is one of those with longer white hair that is a very noticable shed. Daily brushing when she's in shedding mode and weekly when not would solve the problem, but if you don't want to deal with fur ask out associate about a low shedding bunny instead.

All rabbits must have an adequate exercise area, whether it is a supervised exercise pen or an area in the house. It is recommended that the rabbit cage be cleaned out weekly and any old hay, pellets and bedding be removed every three days and rabbit safe disinfectants be used to prevent the spread of bacteria. Wet foods, such as greens, fruits and vegetables should be disposed of daily. Also, an earthenware food bowl and a drinking bottle will be recommended to feed and water the rabbit. The most important component of the rabbit's diet is hay, a roughage that reduces the chance of blockages and malocclusion while providing indigestible fiber necessary to keep the gut moving. Grass hays such as timothy are generally preferred.  Lastly, always remember that your bunny needs to have some type of rabbit approved wooden chew toy, so that they may wear down their teeth to help prevent malocclusion issues.

IndyCLAW Rescue is founded on the premise of 'Creating Life-long Animal Welfare'. It's not just our slogan, its our mission statement. We have a face to face adoption process that included an adoption application and do home visits to ensure that this pet will be achieving a life-long home and includes an adoption contract that returns the pet to us if it doesn't work out or circumstances change. Because our adoption process involves a home visit, we do not adopt long distance. There is also an adoption fee. Each rabbit is spayed / neutered prior to adoption and the adoption fee only partially reimburses our expenses in preparing your new pet. We do not adopt to breeders or resellers.
