Meet Caddy

Caddy is an exuberant, energetic, and intelligent American Bulldog / Pit mix. He was born in October 2006 and weighs about 73 pounds. With his white and brown coat and sleek, athletic build, he often gets compliments on his handsome appearance. He was raised and well cared for by the same owner from when he was a puppy until he came to an Animal Rescue Project foster home because his owner was being deployed overseas. He's housebroken, he's food motivated, he learns fast, and he responds to quite a few commands.

In some ways, Caddy is a big, joyful puppy. He entertains himself (and his family!) with his toys, and he likes interacting with his people even more. He's always watching for opportunities to play or to snuggle. In his foster home, he sleeps on the 13-year-old's bed.

Caddy is both physically and mentally active. He loves walks, runs, and especially car rides. His previous owner sometimes went rollerblading and camping with him as well. He enjoys carrying a pack on walks, and he's alert and watchful over his family (with both his previous owner and his foster family). Once he's decided that they're OK, he loves to be with new people too. His strong sense of loyalty to his family makes him suited for someone who has experience with powerful breed dogs.

Caddy would be best in a home without cats. He needs to be introduced to other dogs with care, but he's excited to see other dogs as long as they don't show any aggression. He used to live with another dog and got along with all the dogs in his previous extended family. His previous owner told us that he likes to be the alpha dog.

If a powerful, delightfully goofy, and very affectionate dog is what you're looking for, ask about Caddy today!

****His adoption fee is $125.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues—and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

All Animal Rescue Project pets also receive a Home Again microchip prior to adoption and one month of free medical insurance. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
