McCoy Maine Coon & Domestic Long Hair Mix Albany, NY

Meet McCoy!  Isn't he one of the most handsome boys around?  He's a great cat - very friendly and very fond of petting and cuddles.  And he NEVER bites...because McMcCoy no longer has any teeth!  At one point, he had severe stomatitis, an inflammation of his gums, and his teeth were all removed. This has greatly improved his quality of life in many ways, although he still receives medication once a day (which he takes easily) to maintain his health. McCoy is a beautiful long-haired Maine Coon-looking kitty who loves people and likes to play. He was returned to Whiskers when his owners couldn't keep him any longer, and would love to have a new home where he can play and snuggle and just generally be the great cat that he is! McCoy is probably about 7 years old. McCoy is FIV positive and lives in our FIV colony room. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a lentivirus, meaning that it progresses very slowly, gradually affecting a cats immune system. It is passed through blood transfusions and through serious, penetrating bite wounds (mainly by stray, intact male cats). Given that McCoy no longer has any teeth, the risk of him infecting another cat is virtually non-existent. FIV cats usually live long and healthy lives as long as they are kept up-to-date on vaccinations and any illnesses that develop are treated aggressively. Whiskers cats and kittens are ALL rescued from the surrounding CAPITAL DISTRICT.
