Snuggles the Rooster Chicken Chicken Dalzell, IL

Snuggles the Rooster earned his name by being such an affectionate, gentle, kind roo. This big boy came to us on Xmas Eve after a kind lady found him wandering in her alley in Chicago. It was below 0 outside and she knew the bird would not have survived, so she brought him inside and transported him out to us in the country.

As you can see, Snuggles has had both his upper and lower beak 'debeaked', which is a common and exceedingly cruel practice performed on laying hens in factory farms, and on bait birds used in cockfighting or dogfighting rings. We do not know his background or where he came from other than a Chicago alley, but we do know that Snuggles the Rooster is much better off where he is now, with us, and that he has not let human cruelty jade him. He remains very interested in people, loves to be held and pet, follows people around, and is a very special rooster. His spurs are nearly an inch long so he is a grown adult and despite his debeaking, he eats regular chicken feed, grains, and fresh produce just fine.
