Meet Raggedy Ann (aka Annie) (LOCAL)

Sweet gentle soul....that's how her foster mom feels about her!

SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF PAGE TO SEE MANY MORE PHOTOS OF ANNIE!

Annie will need a home that will understand she is super sensitive at first - you cannot take it personally - she will need time to adjust to your home - she is not a fear biter nor is she fear aggressive - she's just extremely sensitive to new surroundings but when she comes around, boy will you be happy!

A nice quiet home for this girl.....

FOSTER MOM UPDATE 1-28-2011 -

Annie Update: She's doing great!!! Another foot of snow hasn't ruffled her feathers (mine, however.... ). Annie may still be super shy but she has made tremendous progress coming up to people and letting them pet her. Takes treats from different people and has even started (just today) chewing on bones. When I'm not being patient, I just scoop her up and tell her it's snuggle time. She loves it! She settles in, gives a nice sigh and has even fallen asleep in my lap. This kind of bonding definitely carries over to the rest of the day and her general ability to cope. She's loving the love. Still figuring out the food thing - what she likes, doesn't like and then there's keeping Andy away from her food so she can come and go and eat at her own pace. Her favorite is chicken but I am trying not to create a picky monster dog by feeding her human food. We have five different varieties of dry food available but I usually give her some wet food at night just to make sure she is eating. She's incredibly fast & agile for her size (she looks chunky due to her barrel chest but seems very fit) and can jump up on the bed with amazing grace and speed. And those eyes.......

Meet Raggedy Ann. This sweet girl got her name because of how she looked "before" (that would be the picture of her on the counter at the vet's office). She recently had a day at the spa to be groomed and is looking so much better. Annie is very shy. She's come a long way in the short time we've had her. She's shown no aggression toward people or other dogs. She is crate trained. She actually would stay in her crate all day if we let her, it's her safe zone. Annie needs a calm, loving home that wants to prove to her that she can trust people and is now safe. Are you the family for her?

Adoption Donation: $375.00

The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (vaccinations, spaying/neutering (when age appropriate), heartworm testing/treatment when necessary and includes transportation up to New England ($125.00 per dog). Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are located outside of Rhode Island boarded either at one of our vet clinics or in foster care. If a dog is listed as "local, he /she is at one of our foster homes in New England.

PAWS of New England is not a shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.

We are often asked, "Why would you charge "so much" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in (discounted) vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.

ALL KNOWN INFORMATION IS LISTED HERE. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.
