Meet Snuggles - VIDEOS

Snuggles's beginnings in life were sad. Someone fed him for about a year and a half and managed to bring him indoors after he became ill. Snuggles recovered from the illness but was slower to recover the confidence he'd lost. He was still a kitten when she'd first noticed him many months before. She learned that his family had moved away, leaving young Snuggles behind. The person told us, "This cat craves affection" even though he'd lost trust in people. She told us he had been "totally alone" all that time, not even friendly animals for company. Apparently other animals, such as a raccoon, stalked him and she'd seen the youngster running for his life. When she brought him indoors, Snuggles was only too pleased to be an indoor cat after his harrowing months on the streets. She said he "mostly wants you to stroke and love him" except for when he felt overwhelmed during a visit (you'll see this on his video below). She named him Snuggles "believing that one day this is exactly what he will do with someone special."

Snuggles does indeed hunger for affection. He gets so excited when someone comes into his communal room. He would hurry over hoping for some pets even when he was still unsure they would be kind to him. He has made great strides since he's been with us. He's a deeply affectionate little cat who loves people. Now, he is much more comfortable with much more handling for a longer time. (When he was new, he made a comical yet touching show of 'approach and retreat' throughout visits, as you'll see on his first video below.) He reaches into a caress, soaking up the attention with such a hunger that you know how lonely he's been for most of his life. Snuggles is indeed a sweet-natured, tenderhearted little cat.

He would probably do best in an adult home. Give him a bit of time to settle in. If you have a calm, friendly pet, Snuggles should be fine with them. He must be a strictly indoor cat since his life so far made him jumpy with strange situations or unexpected events. One sudden noise and he'd likely bolt and run until he was too lost or scared to make his way back. In a stable, adult home, Snuggles could enjoy all the love he's been aching for during his lonely life, and he would return it in full measure. He is a very loving, playful little cat. Give Snuggles a chance! You'll see the most devoted little companion emerge as he begins to feel secure.

Snuggles was born around the beginning of 2009.

In the video below, Snuggles ached to be loved but had to fight through his fears to enjoy it. It's comical and touching to see how he would rather 'pet himself' on a stationary hand than have the hand actively pet him.

In the following videos, you'll notice how much his confidence has improved! He's a happy, playful little guy who is thrilled to get attention and waits for it eagerly.
